Rotel Returns to Passive Loudspeakers with the Amora 5

Tokyo, Japan (August 19, 2026) — Rotel has announced the Amora 5, a two-way bass-reflex speaker that marks the company’s return to passive loudspeakers. The Amora 5 expands Rotel’s system approach beyond source components and amplification, giving listeners and retailers a complete path from source to speaker.

Best known for its amplifiers, CD players, DACs, and source components, Rotel now brings its established engineering approach to the final stage of music reproduction. Developed to integrate naturally with Rotel electronics, while performing confidently in any quality audio system, the Amora 5 combines carefully crafted drive units, a precision-tuned crossover, and a rigid MDF enclosure in a compact stand-mount design.

With an extended frequency response from 48 Hz to 28 kHz, the Amora 5 is engineered for exceptional resolution and accuracy, low distortion, and a wide, open, three-dimensional stereo image. Its two-way configuration pairs a 1-inch (25 mm) silk-dome tweeter with a 6.5-inch (165 mm) woven-fiber composite midrange/bass driver.

The silk-dome tweeter is mounted within an aluminum surround ring for rigid, secure mounting, with a geometrically shaped ABS faceplate that minimizes diffraction and provides a smooth transition to the cabinet baffle. The midrange/bass driver uses a rigid aluminum frame to maintain mechanical stability and driver alignment, helping reduce structural vibration and maintain consistent driver performance. A precision-tuned 2.5 kHz crossover integrates the two drive units to deliver a balanced frequency response, focused imaging, and an open soundstage.

The rigid MDF cabinet provides a stable acoustic foundation for the drive units, helping minimize unwanted resonance. A rear-mounted reflex port is tuned to extend low-frequency performance down to 48 Hz while maintaining controlled bass performance.

Dual sets of gold-plated speaker terminals support standard single-wire or bi-wire connectivity, providing installation flexibility. A removable, magnetically attached front grille uses acoustically transparent fabric to maintain a clean visual presentation whether fitted or removed.

“Rotel’s success has always been built on trusted engineering, long-term relationships, and a shared passion for music,” said Peter Kao, Managing Director of Rotel and third-generation member of the founding family. “With the Amora 5, we extend the Rotel experience through the final stage of the system, giving our global partners and customers a more complete path from source to speaker.”
